Web resources such as IMDb, RottenTomatoes, and all other pop-culture media sites collect their top-10 games, TV series, TikToks, and, of course, movies at the end of each year. And now that the year 2021 is drawing to a close, we can finally look back and consider which films are worth seeing.
1. The dune
Denny Villeneuve directs the new Dune, which stars Timothy Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, and a slew of other talented actors. The film is based on Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name, and it covers nearly half of the first book. According to reports, the sequel will cover the remainder of the novel. What exactly is it about? Sand, huge worms, the spice, and intergalactic politics are all things that come to mind. It’s fantastic!
Suicide Squad, No. 2
Millions of people have been astonished by James Gunn’s perspective on the Suicide Squad. People had given up hope before the first trailer, but once they realised how smart and unapologetic this edition of the Squad would be, everything was forgiven. The action scenes are divine, the comedy is… well, it’s Gunn’s style of comedy, so it’s 50/50, and best of all, the characters aren’t cardboard cutouts! Not all of them, at least. The presence of King Shar alone earns this film an 8/10.
3. Eternals
It wouldn’t be a top-10 film list without at least one Marvel film, right? (Spoiler: there are three in total.) Despite being a gorgeous rendition of the Eternals comic book narrative, some viewers did not enjoy it. So, why do people despise this superhero team? Because two males kissing for a second is suddenly considered LGBT+ propaganda. Anyway, the plot is a spicy blend of character drama, fantastic action, and plot twists you won’t see coming, which is a lot for a Marvel film.
