Web resources such as IMDb, RottenTomatoes, and all other pop-culture media sites collect their top-10 games, TV series, TikToks, and, of course, movies at the end of each year. And now that the year 2021 is drawing to a close, we can finally look back and consider which films are worth seeing.

1. The dune

Denny Villeneuve directs the new Dune, which stars Timothy Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, and a slew of other talented actors. The film is based on Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name, and it covers nearly half of the first book. According to reports, the sequel will cover the remainder of the novel. What exactly is it about? Sand, huge worms, the spice, and intergalactic politics are all things that come to mind. It’s fantastic!

Suicide Squad, No. 2

Millions of people have been astonished by James Gunn’s perspective on the Suicide Squad. People had given up hope before the first trailer, but once they realised how smart and unapologetic this edition of the Squad would be, everything was forgiven. The action scenes are divine, the comedy is… well, it’s Gunn’s style of comedy, so it’s 50/50, and best of all, the characters aren’t cardboard cutouts! Not all of them, at least. The presence of King Shar alone earns this film an 8/10.

3. Eternals

It wouldn’t be a top-10 film list without at least one Marvel film, right? (Spoiler: there are three in total.) Despite being a gorgeous rendition of the Eternals comic book narrative, some viewers did not enjoy it. So, why do people despise this superhero team? Because two males kissing for a second is suddenly considered LGBT+ propaganda. Anyway, the plot is a spicy blend of character drama, fantastic action, and plot twists you won’t see coming, which is a lot for a Marvel film.

4. Mortal Kombat

So far, it appears that this is the best video game film adaptation ever done. It’s far from ideal, but it’s the best we’ve got after all of the Resident Evil films, Monster Hunter, and even Sonic the Hedgehog. This film is a smash blockbuster because to its thrilling action and well-known characters.

5. Zack Snyder’s Justice League

Is it a bit of a cheat to include the Snyder Cut on this list? No, most likely not. This is essentially the same Justice League that we saw a few years ago, but with a lot more slow-motion and around 4 hours of added scenes. This version devotes more time to character development than a single season of a CW show, ensuring that fans will enjoy it.

6. Godzilla v. Kong

Mother Nature has been enraged once more by humanity, which means that the gigantic lizard is poised to assault some morons from the “Apex” company. The CEO of the firm heads out to Godzilla’s hometown, Hollow Earth, in quest of a solution to stop the monster. It turns out that they’ll need the assistance of another kaiju — Kong — to get there. The giants are about to collide, and it’s going to be epic!

7. Spider-Man: No Way Home

No spoilers because it’s still a new release, but if you appreciate Spider-Man as a character, you’ll be happy to hear that there’s a lot of him in the movies. Yes, the rumors were correct from the start – Toby, Andrew, and Tom will band up against the evil guys while trying not to mess up reality. If I’m being honest, No Way Home might be the best film of the year!

8. Army of Thieves

Sebastian is a bank employee who also operates a safecracking YouTube channel. One day, an unfortunate blogger is approached by a bunch of experienced thieves who want him to join their team and hunt for a series of fabled safes strewn over Europe. Although the premise is simple, it is immensely entertaining and action-packed. It’s also a prequel to the Army of Dead, so there’s a link there.

9. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shawn is a modest, humble man living in San Francisco who works as a valet at a hotel, spends his evenings with his high school friend Katie, and enjoys karaoke. Nobody suspects he’s the son of Asia’s most powerful criminal lord, Wenwu, or Mandarin, who has been crushing his foes with the use of magical bracers for a thousand years and now wants to resurrect his deceased wife, who is actually an evil tentacle monster from another dimension. In a nutshell, that’s Shang-Chi.
